Who Qualifies?
Farmers: If you file Schedule F and earn at least 51% of your income from farming operations, you may qualify. The majority (51%) of your electricity usage must be for farm operations, excluding personal residences. Applicants must also have no unpaid taxes.
Rural Businesses: Small businesses filing Form 1065 or 1120 can apply if located in areas with populations under 50,000. The majority of electricity usage must be business-related, and the applicant must have no back taxes. Check your location’s eligibility on the USDA's Eligibility Map.
When to Apply?
The USDA REAP Grant program has one final opportunity in 2024, running from July to September. Funding amounts have increased due to the Inflation Reduction Act, making this a crucial time to apply.
Grant Options
50% Grant: Highly competitive; applicants need a strong submission to qualify.
25% Grant: A less competitive option for those who prefer a safer approach. This grant is available for various efficiency projects in farming and rural business sectors.
How to Apply
The application process involves collaboration with your solar installer or a third-party specialist. Customers must provide financial details, system information, and signatures. Orka partners with professional grant writers to guide you through every step of the process.
Application Rounds Grant applications are submitted in specific rounds, and funds are allocated based on application scores. If you don’t receive funding in one round, your application automatically rolls over to subsequent rounds within the calendar year.
